Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment to a domain using Zscaler

To join a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment to a domain using Zscaler, you can follow these steps:

  1. Install Zscaler App: Download and install the Zscaler App from the ZPA Admin Portal. Make sure to use a local Administrator account for the installation.

  2. Configure Application Segments: Add all the necessary ports required for joining the Active Directory (AD) domain in the ZPA Application Segments. This includes ports for DNS, Kerberos, LDAP, and others.

  3. Login to Zscaler App: Use valid credentials to log in to the Zscaler App and verify that the Private Access service is active.

  4. Join to AD Domain: Establish a ZPA connection and use a Domain Administrator account to join the remote workstation to the AD domain.

  5. Add Cached Credentials: Prepare the cached credentials for the domain user account and log off from the Zscaler App. This step ensures that the domain credentials are available for login.

  6. Login with Domain Credentials: Reboot the workstation and log in with the domain credentials. Ensure that the "Remember Me" option is checked in the Zscaler App.

  7. Apply Group Policies: Reboot the workstation again to apply the domain computer and user Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
